Allegra.png

 the creative language

Allegra Hicks is an artist and designer, who works between London and Naples. Allegra’s origins in painting began in frescos and have, over the past decades, flourished into one off design pieces which investigate the diaphanous bridge between art and design. Exploring the natural landscape of the body, Allegra’s recent paintings weave within and without, mapping the soul’s geographic ties to human anatomy. From tapestries to rugs to cast bronze lamps, Allegra’s work continues to respect the fluidity of watercolour. Today, Allegra presents a collection of metal design pieces and manages to find a unique softness in the material.

Clutter Expert

International Best selling author Mel Mason is The Clutter Expert and as a sexual abuse survivor, she grew up depressed, suicidal and surrounded by clutter. What she realized after coming back from the brink of despair and getting through her own chaos was that the outside is just a mirror of the inside. And if you only address the outside without changing the inside, the clutter keeps coming back. That set her on a mission to empower people around the world to get free from clutter inside & out, so they can experience happiness and abundance in every area of their lives.

Soul of the Home: Designing with Antiques

“Antiques show their age and history, blemishes and all. That kind of imperfection is a lovely thing to live with because it’s so forgiving. It’s just what I want to come home to.” Tara Shaw’s design principles stem from 20 years of success as a "guerilla antiquer" in France, Italy, Sweden and Belgium selling in wholesale volume. In addition to her thriving import business, she has a custom furniture line, Maison, and a licensed product line with Restoration Hardware. She lives in New Orleans with her husband, Robert Walsh, and her whippet, Brother Lucca. The door opened to design home interiors when Jill Goodacre and Harry Connick Jr. encouraged her to work on their home in Connecticut. Many design projects followed by word of mouth. Shaw is a respected supplier of French and other European antiques for a host of AD100 And ELLE Decor A- listers, including Bobby McAlpine, Brooke and Steve Gianetti, Marie Flanigan, and Peter Marino.

Elevate Space

A Little About Whitney
I’ve started my design business officially in 2012, but I’ve had a love for décor since I was a little girl. I used to move our bedroom and living room furniture around often (which bred my love for space planning) and asked for décor for Christmas gifts. While I did love toys, my most fun was with the ones that made me make believe with real(ish) home furnishings, like doll houses and the Easy-Bake oven.
I’m a New Orleans native and conduct most business with clients in my area, but since starting my design business, I’ve worked with clients all around the US and even some outside the US, like the UK and Australia. I was named a Design Master in the Fall 2017 issue of New Orleans Homes & Lifestyles magazine and my work was featured in our local newspaper, The Times-Picayune, and online publications, like The Olive Guide.
I’ve spent years perfecting my processes in space planning, project management, CAD software, and design.
